I recently found myself spending time in Arnhem, in the Netherlands, having never been there before. I had, of course, heard about Arnhem in connection with the Second World War film “A Bridge too Far”, but otherwise knew little about it.
I was staying in an AirBnB apartment which was ideal for my purposes, being in a quiet area on the outskirts of the town (AirBnb apartment in Arnhem) and close to the motorway network.
In the apartment, I spotted a leaflet about Arnhem Centraal Railway Station and how it had been completely redesigned and re-imagined and decided to go and check it out.
The new station cost £37.5m to build and was opened in November 2015. Around 40,000 passengers use this station every day!
